Planning IT Support for a Growing Business
A practical checklist for Southeast Texas businesses preparing for more employees, new devices, and technology changes.

Adding employees changes more than the number of computers in your office. It also creates work around accounts, permissions, software, and support. Before your next hire or office expansion, take stock of the technology your team needs and decide who will manage it.
Start with people, accounts, and devices
List the people who need access to business systems, the accounts they use, and the devices the company covers. Identify who owns each account and who can approve access changes. Keep a separate record of shared resources, such as team passwords, so access does not depend on one employee.
- Which computers, phones, and tablets does the company provide?
- Who approves new accounts and changes to permissions?
- What access should be removed when someone leaves?
- Who will employees contact when they need IT help?
Separate recurring support from planned changes
Everyday support and one-time implementation need different scopes. Recurring work can include remote help desk support, monitoring, patching, and user onboarding or offboarding. A migration, network installation, server replacement, or device rollout should have a project scope that defines the intended outcome and handoff.
Check the foundation before expanding
Growth is a useful time to check whether your business controls its domain, email tenant, accounts, and technology documentation. If ownership or configuration is unclear, address that before adding more systems. Business IT Integration can help establish a standardized, documented technology foundation, separately from recurring support.
Agree on the next step
Bring your device list, upcoming staffing changes, and project plans to an IT scoping conversation. This helps distinguish the work you need each month from changes that need a separate implementation quote. It also gives your team a clear starting point for support responsibilities.
